Hot Dog Alert #1

A new feature in this blog will be the occasional hot dog alert to bring you news about baseball and hot dogs when those worlds collide.

Our very first alert concerns the Tacoma Rainiers. The AAA affiliate of the Seattle Mariners have teamed with one of the city of Tacoma’s premiere hot dog vendors to add a gourmet flair to the bun. This season The Red Hot will be serving up some fantastic franks at Cheney Stadium. You can find these delicious dogs near the home plate area on the main concourse.

If there is one thing I love is when ballparks team with local hot dog eateries to keep the cuisine regionally specific. The Red Hot is located on 6th Avenue in Tacoma and that is its only location...except for the soon to be popular stand in Cheney Stadium.

I will be in Seattle in mid-April, just a long foul ball’s distance from Tacoma. The ballpark was not on my list of stops; but it may be now. If not, The Red Hot would make a fine addition to Hot Dog Hot Spots. I can’t wait to try the combo of yellow mustard, 1000 island dressing, onions, nacho cheese sauce, slice of bacon and tomatoes that comprise The Hilltop dog. Stay tuned for a full report.
